John Gibson had a career spanning over 30 years of leadership in the Lawn & Tree Care Industry when his life journey intersected with an opportunity to purchase Colorado Yurt Company in 2020. The Colorado Yurt Company was started in 1976 by Dan & Emma Kigar, where they manufacture yurts, tipis, and tents for individual consumers as ADU’s, parks, camp and campgrounds, ski resorts, schools, festivals, and outfitters, among many others. Inspiring outdoor connections through quality craftsmanship performed on the Western Slope of Colorado has brought together his passion for the outdoors and leadership skills to steward a world-class team creating outdoor structures that captivate. In June of 2022, the company was rebranded Secret Creek, makers of Colorado Yurts, Earthworks Tipis, Destination Tents and moved into our new building at Colorado Outdoors in Montrose, Colorado.

Matt Whitman – Sales Guide
Born and raised in Kansas City, Matt found a love of traveling after taking family vacations every summer in the family mini-van, to places all around the country. Meeting new people and learning about their lives became the norm. Then it became his job. Working in the cycling industry for the better part of a decade after leaving the Aerospace metal fabrication industry is where he honed in on mixing pleasure with buisness. He landed in CO after years of living on the road traveling around the country riding different trails and rafting different rivers. After a couple years of raft guiding he became part of the Secret Creek team. He specializes in people and sharing their excitement for our different products.
